More than 22% of the people living in Berlin do not have a German passport. Their signatures in support of the DW&Co Enteignen campaign are considered invalid and they can’t vote in the 2021 referendum. Those who often face the worst conditions on Berlin’s housing market are denied a say over a campaign that could drastically improve their situation.

This working group wants to adress this democratic deficit and find ways that everyone can contribute to and benefit from the campaign. After all, the socialization of housing means introducing real democratic control over our shared living environment.

What that means in practice: making sure that people who are not comfortable with German as their working language can participate, building coalitions with migrant organizations, and scandalizing the democratic deficit in the city.
